Where is Your Treasure?

Published by jesse010679 at 7:09 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

It’s was a great night! I can honestly say it’s something that thousands of people would love the opportunity to do, but won’t ever have the chance. I had the privilege of rubbing elbows and being up close and personal with the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks professional basketball teams. This all access pass gave me entrance in the back hallways of the Bradley Center, complete access to the media room and the ability to walk courtside and do as I please because I had the right ‘credentials’. I was filled with excitement at being able to take pictures with my camera phone and send them off to my wife. I felt privileged to be able to be that close to their world and see what these professional athletes were like.

It’s interesting that God gives me complete access to Him whenever I want, but that same excitement eludes me. Why don’t I tell more people about the promises I have been given? Why don’t I speak up more when the opportunities arise? Why don’t I delight at being able to communicate with God whenever I see fit? How out of line are my priorities that I could ever put anything in front of my love of God, my commitment to the church or my devotion to the study of His word?

Luke 12:34 talks about our heart being wherever our treasure is. I pray my treasure is not found in the idol worship of other men, or in a game, or in my sins. I pray my treasure is where God is found and that I can keep Him #1 in my life at all times. Romans 5:2 says that I have gained access into His grace…I pray that I can be ever thankful that He has loved me so much, that I’m invited to join Him whenever I want.
